AGE SUGGESTIONS

Suggested age of Kids who want to be zombies is 11 years old or older – (if they are 10 years old we need to have a special ok from parents that they understand the suggested age is 11).

All parents are giving their permission for their child to be a zombie volunteer and understand they will be shot at with Gellyballs (orbies) from a battery powered gun. Each Zombie will be given a protective face mask that must be worn at all times.

There will be a paper to sign that allows the child to participate saying they understand what the night would consist of.

Rules

Our Zombie actors may NOT touch the participants and the participants (Zombie Hunters) may NOT touch our actors – anyone breaking this rule is immediately removed from the park.

For Safety – A FULL paintball facemask must be worn AT ALL TIMES when on the field. Even between groups of participants. No exceptions.

Zombies may not talk to the participants or exchange and verbal bantering.

What to expect

Zombies will be the targets of participants (zombie hunters) shooting Glow in dark Gellyballs.

All volunteer Zombies in groups should expect to be in the shooting areas – There are 3 fields of zombies. We will try to keep your group together on the same field but may need to separate depending on staffing for the night. In any case we will keep groups of kids together (even if we have to do half on one field and half on another). This is a fun night & great team bonding.

There are a handful of non-shooting areas (Watching bounce house, helping in the snack bar, crowd control) – please let us know ahead of time if a volunteer must be/requests a non shoot area.

You can be a zombie wandering or jump out and scare the group. Your leader will tell you where to be.

Zombie hunters will come through the fields once it gets dark, approximately every 15-20 minutes and be led by a guide on a marked trail. We will end by 11:30 and often earlier depending on how many people sign up.

Each field/station will have a GLADIATOR worker/leader assigned who will have a radio to communicate with if there is a problem. This Leader will teach you what to do/how to act and where to stand/be about 30 minutes before the start of the night. Remember you will be a ZOMBIE so practice your best slow zombie walk!

The Details / Waivers

We will need a list of how many zombies, the names and ages of each participant PRIOR to the night you come + any special notes about the group or needs. This should be emailed to gladiatorpbpark@gmail.com once you know who will come. We can make a few changes the day of, if need be, but we are COUNTING on you to show up with the number of volunteers agreed upon. Please keep your word!

When you get to Gladiator have each one of your group/individuals check in with Juanita at the Pro Shop for their assignment/leaders/field – don’t wait for the entire team to arrive -we want to check them in as they arrive. We have a lot of actors to get checked in!

All zombies must sign a waiver for the park – this waiver MUST be signed PRIOR to coming to the park by adult/guardian. It is the same waiver that they sign to play so no need to do it again if they have a current one on file.

We cannot stress this enough – We will not have time to look up everyone’s waiver the night of the event. Please come with the waiver signed at least 24 hours before you arrive.

What we supply & what to bring/wear

  • We will supply a clean full Paintball mask/shield to every Zombie. If you have your own Paintball mask you may bring it for approval to wear.
  • We will supply chest protectors to actors until supplies run out. – these are optional and many do not want to wear them under clothes
  • Dress warm, layer clothing (wear a sweatshirt under a flannel shirt). Your clothes can be regular baggy clothes (layed) this will help absorb the impact of the gellyball to lessen the gellyball impact.

  • If you want to go above and beyond and have fun with it you can rip flannel shirts, put fake blood on your clothes etc. (Goodwill is a great place to get some items to customize).

  • Protect your neck!! – Hoodies are great to pull up and tie over the mask and protect your neck. Or wrap a scarf or piece of clothing around your neck to avoid getting hit in the neck.

  • Basically cover all your skin.

  • Gloves – optional but recommended – bring your own from home.

  • Wear good running shoes or cleats. No flip flops or open toe shoes. The ground can be uneven and it will be dark so watch your footing. We will try to make sure all areas the Zombies are in are secure and even ground.

  • We have limited costumes and props. So, when you arrive you will be shown an area to get ready and pick things to add to what you brought. Keep in mind extra zombie clothes/props may run out depending on how many volunteers we have- so be prepared to go on the field in what you came in. (we will always provide you a face mask)

  • You can bring props (bats, sticks, hockey sticks, etc) but you may not touch/hit anyone with it. Just hitting the ground or building or structure is all you can do with the props. (No real knives)
  • Bring a jug of water with you and snack if you need to eat. You can hide these things behind props in the field and keep hydrated between groups.
  • No need for Make up on the face – your face will be covered with the mask full time.
